Director of Development
POSITION DESCRIPTION
St. Richard's is seeking to employ a Director of Development. The Director will provide leadership in all of the School's development efforts, including planned giving, donor relationships, the annual fund, alumni development, and alumni parent relations.
With an already strong and loyal base of philanthropic support and with the recent award of a significant grant from Lilly Endowment Inc, this position is poised to continue growing and transforming the school’s development program for future generations of students.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
This successful candidate will:
- Serve as a member of the school’s leadership team and coordinate philanthropic activity with fellow leadership team members as needed. Support the mission of the school in all aspects of their work.
- Develop relationships and solicit donations (including major gifts) on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain administrative systems and procedures such as database management, stewardship, and prospect research, ensuring each functions smoothly and efficiently.
- Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback to their staff, and encourage open and ongoing communication within the development team.
- Lead capital campaign planning and execution.
- Develop and implement fundraising plans and programs to expand and
- strengthen the school's current base of philanthropic support, including but not limited to:
- Oversee the annual fund planning and solicitation strategy.
- Serve as the administrative lead for the Foundation Board in its efforts to grow the school’s endowment and regularly report to the Board of Trustees.
- Develop and implement strategic plans and programs to expand and
- strengthen the school's current base of philanthropic support, including drafting case statements and cultivating relationships with foundations and grant-making organizations.
- Continue stewardship with established donors and develop new donors.
- Support and/or lead school development events (Awards Day, Regalia, G3 Dinner, Alumni gatherings, Lessons and Carols luncheon, etc.).
- Serve as the administrative lead for the Foundation Board in its efforts to grow the school’s endowment
- Provide regular reports to the Board of Trustees and engage them in philanthropic activity.
- Collaborate on philanthropic priorities in support of our campus partners at Horizons at St. Richard’s and Trinity Episcopal Church.
- Identify and manage grant relationships and strategy with foundations and coordinate work with the contract grant writing team, as necessary.
- Strengthen and develop alumni engagement.
CRITICAL SKILLS
- Understanding and support of the school's mission
- Evidence of strong, successful philanthropic experience, including robust work in major gifts. Capital campaign experience is preferred.
- Donor relationship-building and solicitation skills; able to develop new donors, retain existing, and work to deepen the engagement of donors/funders and volunteers. Able to solicit funding at all levels - especially high-level individual, corporate, and foundation gifts.
- A sensitivity to and knowledge of the needs of a diverse community and the ability to work effectively with donors, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency with Google Suite, database management, and an aptitude for learning new computer applications.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills, including public speaking, and the ability to work collaboratively with the communications and marketing team for development-related communication.
- Organizational skills and an ability to work collaboratively, independently, and handle multiple priorities.
- Strong skills in leading and managing a staff.
